今日は
「イギリス英語の熟語」を
書きたいと思います。

「Beer and skittles」



直訳すると
「ビールと　
（スキトーズという）ゲーム」　です。


「Beer　ビアー」　は
皆さんご存知ですよね。


「Skittles　スキトーズ」　は　
ボーリングの　元になった　
ゲームのことです。


上記の写真が、そのゲームです。
ボールが柱に固定されているのが、
ボーリングと　大きく違う様です。

「スキトーズは、　9ピン　の名前でも
知られていて、　10ピンボーリングの
前身となった物、17世紀から

こちらには　「Skittles　スキトーズ」
という名前の　キャンディがあるので
始めはその事かと思いました。
